symbiont-mediated suppression of host defenses
A process in which a symbiont interferes with, inhibits or disrupts the normal execution of host defense(s) by active mechanisms that normally result in the shutting down of a host pathway. The host is defined as the larger of the organisms involved in a symbiotic interaction.
